Well, I had a nice long post typed up but my computer crashed. Grar.

Highlights:

This morning I woke up at 8, walked out to the laundry room to check for clean clothes, and on the way back sat down on the couch "for just a minute." I woke up at 3. Missed two classes. Still in my jammies. Drat.

I did read Harry Potter for a while though. Still re-reading 4. He just finished the first task (HA HA HA, it's a joke, cause I'm talking like my history prof "Well, last time we started the Mexican War, today we'll finish that and hopefully start the Civil War..." it's funny the end). I also wrote most of a paper and a longish post that got DELETED when my computer crashed.

While the computer was locked up, the bulb cover thing fell off the ceiling fan and crashed onto the floor *right* behind me, and shattered. I'm barefoot. I managed to sweep it up without stepping on any, though, thankfully. The weirdest part is how I knew it was falling. I don't know if it made a weird noise right before it fell, or what, but I knew when it was falling as I cringed right before it hit the floor. It scared Count Archibald, too, he's still jumpy. Poor guy.

I can't believe Ahh-nold won and is now Governor. Call it naivete, but I really hoped he would lose. That is so terrible, you know he won cause of who he is, I think I'm going to cry. Or maybe just go to Cali and blow things up. Nah, prolly I'll just sit here and wonder at the stupidity of it all. Gah.

So Tuesday I went up to school about 2 1/2 hours early to take my Comp II english test, thinking it had an essay. It didn't. I was done in 20 minutes. I ended up sitting outside my class for 2 hours with Fauxbad. The lady in the testing center graded it for me on the spot, and I made a 49/50, or a 98%. BAM. And that's without watching the stupid tapes, either. Who says you need to watch the programs for an ITV class? HA!

Ok, I'm off to bed. I'm taunting imaginary people, it's time for bed. That way I'll taunt my wall instead.

So this morning (ok, afternoon) when I woke up, Count Archibald crawled up on my chest and laid down so I could pet him more easily. He is such a sweet, affectionate cat when he learns he can trust you. He even let me trim his claws today, without so much as a wiggle. I think he likes me a lot more since I learned how he really likes to be petted. He loves having his nose rubbed, and for some reason like having me run a finger from his nose to his ear, over his eyes. It really relaxes him. And he really loves it when I scratch this certain spot in front of his ear a certain way. In other words, he knows that if he's nice to me he gets petted in very nice ways. He also follows me around, too. I think he's hoping that I'm get him a glass of ice water.

Oh well, I'll just say that Count Archibald loves me and leave it at that...

In other news, it's Christmas!

I took the mutts back to their house Monday. When I got home the cat and I frolicked. Yes, Count Archibald frolicked. He was that happy to be rid of the stinkbags. I was, too. I hated giving enzie his shots, I hated cleaning up from when he decided to pee on the carpet, I hated trying to keep Murphy from terrorizing my cat, I hated that they were spoiled rotten and barked to get what they wanted, I hated dealing with them in general. I am a cat person, and these dogs were so incredibly annoying. Good riddance.

In other news, I smell like frappuchino. Num num. I learned how to maek those today, and I've nearly got it down. I just have to memorize a few more details (it's 1-2-3 for all of them except the cremes, which are 2-3-4, and the toppings are the same) and I'm golden. I also learned the register and the right way to take orders (CM, don't write out "Caramel Mocie-whatever"), so I'm actually good for more than dishes and busing tables now. It's a nice feeling, being useful.

After work, I got to hang out with Andrew for a while. Man, it's nice to just hang out with someone. 'Nuff said.

It's really hard to type when you've got a cat on your lap, napping with his head on your left wrist.

But it's ok, cause it's Count Archibald.

There's nothing nicer than having a cat curled up in your lap, dozing. I scratch his head and his eyes close further. I stop and he just kinda dozes till I move too much. I think he likes it to, it's a chance to relax and feel safe from the idiot mutts.

The idiots, btw, are in my brother's room. The old, fat, diabetic, deaf one peed in the middle of the living room floor, with no "hey I have to pee" barks to warn us. And THAT's why they stay outside most of the day. I swear that dogs pees more in one go than goes over niagra falls in a year.

In other news, I worked my first day today. They couldn't find the training books, so the supervisor guy just kinda took me and this other girl (it was also her first day) and taught us how to do things. She got there before I did, so she learned how to make frap-thingummies-that-I-can't-spell, but I got there right before a rush started so I got to be a helper person, rinsing things and taking out trash and gophering and making coffee in the big things and whatnot. It wasn't too bad. The other people who work there are really friendly, and fun was had. I think I like this job so far.

Ok, the cat jumped down, and I am COVERED in hair. One patch on my tummy looks like a whiteish mat or something. It's everywhere. Yegads... this cat sheds like crazy, I don't think our last cat shed like this...

Anyways, I can't wait to update my JoyE site. I've played with a buncha stuff and it looks SLICK. I can't decide if I want to just upload it now or wait till the whole contest thing is run through. I'm too impatient, I'll prolly do it soon, but I'm still gonna go through and tweak stuff for a while, I think. I've added Shepherd lyrics and the stuff Fred posted on the JE boards about the rides of Starcadia, and I've... "played" with the menus and they now do cool things. I'm seriously excited. I'm such a nerd, I treat this site like it's my baby. But it's fun, and it's useful for other people, so it's ok.

Ok, g'night!

Cats make great alarm clocks. If only you could set them for a specific time, it'd be the ebst way to wake up. My cat woke me up at 7:45 by sticking his nose in my face until I started patting him, which really was a very nice, gradual way to wake up.

Reason #798165 that cats rule.

I just realized tonight how pathetic our cat really is. He's got patches of fur missing from his allergies, he's limping from having his leg gnawed on by another cat, and now he's sneezing and, I think, sniffling. Poor guy. At least the fur is growing back, and the medicine is almost gone for his leg. Hopefully the sneezes aren't anything serious, but if they keep going I think I'll have to take the poor cat to the vet *again*. I swear he's going to hate me. He's already learned to hide in the morning, in hopes of not being force-fed the foul medicine. Next thing you know he'll learn to steer the car away from the vet or something.

In other, non-cat-related news, the new Harry Potter book comes out in a mere TWO days. In exactly 48 hours, I will be arriving at my local Barnes & Nobles, joining the throng of people-under-the-age-of-15 and eagerly awaiting midnight. Wheeeee!

Oh, and my average in Physics is a 93, somehow. WOO HOO, I might just make it out of this class with an A! *gasps*

Achernar says:
poor thing, I think it tasted bad
Achernar says:
I took him into the bathroom and wrapped him in a towel to keep his paws from helping him escape, then I had to force his mouth open and put the drops in
Achernar says:
the entire time I kept saying "I'm SO sorry, I'm SO sorry, you need it, I'm sorry!"

(BTW, "Achernar" is officially the flattest star ever, recently found. It's 50% wider in the middle than at the poles, and it sets "an unprecedented challenge for theoretical astrophysics." It's my friend. Look at it. How can you not call it friend?

So today I had to take our dear Count Archibald to the vet again. His foot was really swolen and he was limping on it, the poor thing. His allergies get taken care of and then this.

Anywho, I got home from school (more nows on that later) and took the cat to the vet. I took Jess's idea and wrapped him in a towel, which he didn't seem to mind as much as he minded the oh-so-scary ride there. When I went in, I found out I'd have to come back at about 4 and try to be worked in, so I went back home (it was almost 3, and I didn't feel like waiting an hour-plus), and ate something, and went back. I discovered en route that the safest way to travel with that cat is to let him sit in my lap. Elsewise I'm fighting to keep him off my lap, and that's more distracting than just letting him sit there.

When we finally got into the exam room place, the vet took one look and told me that Count Archibald had gotten into a fight and been bitten on the leg and foot. The leg had already let loose all the infected fluid, but the foot needed to be busted to let off the pressure and get the infected goo out. Needless to say, the poor kitty really didn't like that. I had to help the vet and an assistant hold him in place, and then the vet gave him a shot and me a bottle of medicine. I get to try to get an eyedropperful of medicine in this cat's mouth twice a day, whee! But he feels better now. He even, a few minutes ago, finally came out from under my bed! He has stopped scratching all the bald patches, and the sores are all healed, and even the scabs from those are gone. Poor thing, it must have been terrible to itch so much that you make yourself bleed... but at least he's feeling a lot better ^_^

Ok, now my school news... Yesterday we took a test... This professor, McCurdy, gives really weird/hard tests. Our first test in Astronomy, the material was really easy, just about the sun, but the class average was something like a 55 or 60. I lucked out and got a 70-something. The next test was worse, then things started getting better and the class average finally broke 70 by the end of the semester.

Well, the class average on this test was a 70... I made a 95! Woot! I feel really smart. After class, I was sitting in the hall, waiting for my lab class, and he walked by and asked me what my major is. I explained that I was going for a combination of Astronomy and Computer Science, and he just said "Good. You're a smart girl." I gaped. Hee hee. I mean, he's not a person who's obligated to say something like that, ya know?

Anyways, yeah, I had a pretty good day. Though I haven't tried to give the poor cat it's medicine yet...
