jesso: (I AM A RAVENCLAW)
I'm listening to the Harry Potter books (narrated by Stephen Fry, who does an excellent job) as my way of rereading the entire series, which I've been meaning to do for about 2 years now. As I listen, I'm noticing new things and remembering things I'd forgotten:

- I love how JKR seeds things into the first books that come up again in later books. I am in awe of her planning skills. I can't even imagine how detailed her notes must be.

- I am on book 4, and have been brought to tears twice- once at the end of book 1 when Hagrid gave Harry a book of pictures of his parents, the first he'd ever seen, and once after the first task when Harry and Ron make up and are friends again.

- Book 4 is like Wednesday. It's the "hump book" of the series. It's right in the middle, and it's sort of the transition from the beginning to the ending. It's my least favorite, too.

- I will never understand Snape lovers, or even just the people who say "Oh, Snape wasn't so bad!" Snape is a small, petty, horrible man. Halfway through the series, I've already lost track of how many times he has actively participated in the Slytherins picking on Harry. Why? Because he's the son of a guy he didn't like in school and the girl he had a crush on. Yeah, that's totally a good reason for a grown man to bully a kid. Uh, no. Grow up, dude, and get over yourself. Yeah, your time as school sucked, we understand you were bullied, but knowing how much it sucks to be bullied, your solution is to encourage bullying?

- I still don't like the idea of Ron & Hermione getting together. I'm dreading it. I can see where JKR is dropping the hints, as well as hints about Harry & Ginny, but I still don't like it. It still doesn't feel right or natural to me. So I'm going to keep pretending that Harry and Hermione got married and had awesomely adorable babies. With new names, none of this "Albus Severus" stuff.

- Book 4 really is my least favorite. I have to make myself listen to it. It's just so long and drawn-out, and it seems like most of the book has nothing to do with anything. But when I finish, I get to move on to books 5, 6, and 7! I like those books... so I will slog on.

GUYS.

GUYS.

GUYS.

Holy cow.

I just watched an episode of Doctor Who that referenced Harry Potter twice. The second time was a spell.

It was used.

Against witches.

Okay, so from here on out I'm pretty much gonna be avoiding 99.99% of the internet. Too many people are being jerks and posting the ending of the 7th Harry Potter book, and that's pretty much the jerkiest thing a person can do, short of kicking puppies.

IN THE MEANTIME, you should all go read this. I got to vote on the characters and basic plot points! It's pretty awesome. For the truly lazy, here is the first bit. Once you finish it, you'll want to expend the effort to get to part two. Trust me.

ALSO. FREE CDS. I should probably buy some CDRs. Tomorrow!

For now, I am going to go to bed, EXTRA EARLY (it's 9:49! WHOA) in the hopes that I'll get SLEEP. If I don't get good sleep tonight, I'm gonna go buy me some NyQuil. Or an elephant tranquilizer.

So the LAST HARRY POTTER BOOK EVER comes out next Friday at midnight. I need to make a shirt! I should probably work on that this weekend. What should I make it say?

Good news: I'm down 5 pounds since... umm... 2 weeks ago? I think. I dunno. BUT DOWNWARD TRENDS YAY.

Weird News: I dreamt about the Harry Potter book release. I was staying the night somehwere else, so I wasn't home, so I missed it, and I was frantic the next morning trying to get my hands on it without anyone spoiling the end for me. Then when I found the book in a bookstore, I decided to also buy coffee so I could be awake to read it, but my mom showed up in the line and started getting on to me for spending money. I think that's about as close to a nightmare as I ever get, that sort of panicky oh-no-this-could-really-happen type of dream.

Bad News: Well, kinda. This morning, while showering, I felt like I was gonna pass out. It was weird. I pretty much just got out and collapsed (in the kness-buckling way, not the fainting-dramatically way) and sat on the floor for a bit. I do not like that feeling :-(

Exciting News: I get to be paid to stay home and play video games Wednesday! I am far more excited about this than I should be.

Yummy News: Tomorrow is paycheck day, and I will SO be going to the store tomorrow. Someone in [livejournal.com profile] cooking suggested filling rice balls with things like avocado, or cream cheese and cucumber. Guess what I will be doing Wednesday! Preggo #2 is very excited about this.

Forgotten News: I had something else I wanted to put here, but I forgot it!

These sandals are so comforable, that I'm wearing them even though I never wear sandals cause my feetses are ooooogly.

I saw Day After Tomorrow yesterday with Megan, and it was alright. About what I expected, all eye candy and the political/ecological preaching I had heard about. It wasn't bad, but I'm glad it was free.

Harry Potter was awesome, though. Much better than the first 2, and definitely worth paying for. Heck, it was worth it just to see Draco get tossed around by both Buckbeak AND Hermione. Beautiful. And Dumbledore? *heart*! And, I was impressed, they actually did the Marauder's Map better than my imagination did.

Also, now that I've seen the entire Hitchhiker's Guide BBC series, I have to read the books again. (Josh, I promise I"m mailing it back within the next few days! Honest!)

Ok, back to work.

Well, I had a nice long post typed up but my computer crashed. Grar.

Highlights:

This morning I woke up at 8, walked out to the laundry room to check for clean clothes, and on the way back sat down on the couch "for just a minute." I woke up at 3. Missed two classes. Still in my jammies. Drat.

I did read Harry Potter for a while though. Still re-reading 4. He just finished the first task (HA HA HA, it's a joke, cause I'm talking like my history prof "Well, last time we started the Mexican War, today we'll finish that and hopefully start the Civil War..." it's funny the end). I also wrote most of a paper and a longish post that got DELETED when my computer crashed.

While the computer was locked up, the bulb cover thing fell off the ceiling fan and crashed onto the floor *right* behind me, and shattered. I'm barefoot. I managed to sweep it up without stepping on any, though, thankfully. The weirdest part is how I knew it was falling. I don't know if it made a weird noise right before it fell, or what, but I knew when it was falling as I cringed right before it hit the floor. It scared Count Archibald, too, he's still jumpy. Poor guy.

I can't believe Ahh-nold won and is now Governor. Call it naivete, but I really hoped he would lose. That is so terrible, you know he won cause of who he is, I think I'm going to cry. Or maybe just go to Cali and blow things up. Nah, prolly I'll just sit here and wonder at the stupidity of it all. Gah.

So Tuesday I went up to school about 2 1/2 hours early to take my Comp II english test, thinking it had an essay. It didn't. I was done in 20 minutes. I ended up sitting outside my class for 2 hours with Fauxbad. The lady in the testing center graded it for me on the spot, and I made a 49/50, or a 98%. BAM. And that's without watching the stupid tapes, either. Who says you need to watch the programs for an ITV class? HA!

Ok, I'm off to bed. I'm taunting imaginary people, it's time for bed. That way I'll taunt my wall instead.
