I like memes sometimes, especially when they are easy. This one's from [livejournal.com profile] schwimmerin:

Comment and I'll give you a letter. Post a list of ten songs you love beginning with that letter in your journal.

She gave me the letter I:
"I'm a Little Airplane" as covered by They Might Be Giants
"I'm OK, You're OK", by MxPx and as covered by Joy E
"(I Am) Made From The Wires" by Joy Electric
"I Belong To You / Mon Cœur S'ouvre À Ta Voix" by Muse
"I Disappear" by The Faint
"I Enjoy Being a Boy" as covered by They Might Be Giants
"I Will Survive" by Cake or The Puppini Sisters. Really, this is just a great song no matter who is covering it.
"If I Only Had a Heart" by Ozma
"Invincible" by Muse
"It's My Life / Confessions Pt. II" from Glee

Bonus songs, aka I don't LOVE these, but I really do like them:
"In a Beautiful Place Out In The Country" by Boards of Canada
"I'm Blue" by Eiffel 65
"I Wonder Why The Wonderfalls" by Andy Partridge
"Is This Art?" by The Levellers
"It's Not Me, It's You" by Simon & Milo (I love how they used the tune from "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy", okay?)
"It's Only Pop" by Norway (Nostalgariffic!)
"Invincible" by OK Go

LIST:
- Yesterday I shot video of myself, learned how to edit video, then signed up for myspace in order to submit said video to a contest to meet Muse. THE THINGS I DO FOR THIS BAND.

- I like the new Doctor. It will take me some time to get used to him, I think, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to love him. I already love Amy. Girl's got her sassypants on.

- Despite how much I hate the allergy part of it, Spring is really a pretty season. I always forget how much I like the sight of new green grass blowing in the breeze before they cut it. In traffic on the highway today, I got to watch the tall grass on the sides of the highway and it was nice. Bright green grass and bright green trees and pretty blue skies. So pretty. If only I could live in a bubble for the season, it'd be great.

- Have I mentioned that I've got a third cat here? I'm keeping [livejournal.com profile] feigned_living's cat Janet while she looks for an apartment. Janet is both sweet & adorable AND rotten & evil. One minute she'll be purring on my lap, the next she'll be tearing after Hawking wanting to "play". The cat drama in the apartment is epic. Hawking and Janet are almost friends, though- today they were chasing each other around without any growling! For about 10 minutes! I was shocked. Tesla is still standoffish, though.

- Actually, Tesla is amazing. When Janet started harassing Hawking more than Hawking liked, Tesla totally slapped Janet on the top of the head to get her to leave Hawking alone. I kiiiiiind of wanted to give her a high five, except she's a cat. She's been really protective of Hawking, and it's really sweet. Tesla is such a momma cat, even without her claws. But I made the appropriate "hey I do not like fighting" noises, because that's the thing to do.

- There was a notice on my car this morning from the Arlington Police Department. Apparently they came around and did a sort of inspection of cars, to check for things that would make a car a target for burglary, and then left "report cards". My car passed. I thought it was pretty cool that they would do something like that, just as a public service. I really do like the Arlington PD. Every time I've had to deal with them (due to Ben Garcia or Beatrice Sandovall's warrants) they've been super nice. I know cops can have a bad rap in some cities, but Arlington police have always been awesome in my experience.

- I used to talk to these guys online all the time, back in 2001-2004 or so, and now they are touring Europe. I am so happy for them. That is so cool. Also, it seems they've stuck with this band name for more than three seconds, which is a new record I think!

- Actually, I'm really proud of them, honestly. They have won an NME award and apparently Morrissey went to see their show. That is super awesome.

- I am babysitting 4 of the next 6 nights.

- I really want to scrape the stickers off the back window of my car, and get new ones.

- I've had the urge to do something ridiculous for a while now. I shall use some of my babysitting funds to do something ridiculous. I'm not sure what it will be yet, but it will be ridiculous, and also epic.

- Janet is currently chasing her tail. Enthusiastically.

- I'm sleepy, so I'm going to bed.

Awesome, or SUPER AWESOME?

This is why I LOVE KXT. They play all kinds of super interesting music and I've already found some music I REALLY LIKE A WHOLE LOT through them. Twitter followers will be glad to know I've signed up for Evernote, so I can send Twitter DMs to Evernote instead of sending tweets to myself when I hear a good song.

Basically, everyone should listen to KXT all the time. Local people, it's 91.7 FM. Everyone else, listen to the live stream on their website. Forever. It's the law.

So I got this idea from [livejournal.com profile] calita623 and I liked it. From my Last.FM play stats:

Top 10 artists of 2009
1) They Might Be Giants - 2,083 plays
2) Muse - 1,775 plays
3) The Weepies - 972 plays
4) The Faint - 796 plays
5) Revolver - 480 plays
6) Carpark North - 363 plays
7) Chairlift - 229 plays
8) Athlete - 213 plays
9) Kaiser Chiefs - 162 plays
10) Joy Electric - 155 plays

I'm kind of surprised that TMBG beat Muse. I am not surprised to see The Weepies on there, because that's my go-to album when I've had a crummy day. I'll loop their album "Say I Am You" when I go to bed, so it will play for 2 hours straight. That is pretty much all of their plays. I've very surprised to see Chairlift on there- I bought their album on a whim, listened to it for a few days, and haven't really touched it since. Same thing with Kaiser Chiefs. Revolver is kind of surprising, since I only got their music a few months ago, but I listen to it so much (obviously) that I'm not really surprised.

Top 10 Tracks of 2009
1) Carpark North – Human - 82 plays
2) Muse – Time Is Running Out - 76 plays
3) Muse – Uprising - 75 plays
4) The Faint – The Geeks Were Right - 66 plays
5) The Faint – Machine in the Ghost - 65 plays
6) They Might Be Giants – New York City - 63 plays
7) Hybrasil – Golden - 61 plays
8) The Faint – Get Seduced - 58 plays
9) They Might Be Giants – Boss of Me - 57 plays
10) They Might Be Giants – Ana Ng - 57 plays

(I went ahead and took out the Weepies songs, since they are mostly looped to lull me to relaxed sleep. I figured they shouldn't count for this.)

Biggest surprise: That "Human" only had 82 plays. I'm really impressed that Uprising made third place, since it's on an album that only came out in September. All three songs by The Faint are from their new album, too. I'm a little surprised that "Golden" made it up there while none of my other "Fall" songs did- it's the first song on my Fall playlist, and that's the only time I listen to it, so I would expect to see the next song on the list up there, too. Weird.

Interesting: Muscle Museum was #13, and I would have expected it to be in the top 10.

Top 10 Albums of 2009:
1) The Weepies – Say I Am You - 913
2) They Might Be Giants – Dial-A-Song - 653
3) The Faint – Fasciinatiion - 503
4) Revolver – Music For A While - 480
5) Muse – The Resistance - 330
6) Muse – Absolution - 313
7) Muse – Black Holes and Revelations - 255
8) Chairlift – Does You Inspire You - 229
9) Muse – Origin Of Symmetry - 212
10) Carpark North – All Things To All People - 167

Simple math will tell you that about half of the Carpark North listens are the one song, "Human". I don't know if this is shameful, or just funny. Also, the newest Muse album has the most listens, but Revolver beats out ALL the Muse albums. This is unexpected!

This reminds me that I need to check up on the ~sooper sekrit thing~ that is still hidden and secret-like. And then I need to go to bed. GOODNIGHT.

Guys!

Guys guys guys!

Guuuyyyyyssssssss!!!

Athlete has a youtube channel all their own!

And it turns out there is a video for El Salvador!

And it is wonderful!

WATCH IT NOW:

Pardon me while I go flail about fangirlishly in a corner.

OH! And speaking of flailing about fangirlishly, did you know that Steve Burns has a video for his cover of TMBG's Dead? Because he does! I did not even know he did a cover of the song, so when I found it I almost died from the amazingness. Or possibly from hyperventilating. Yanno, same difference.

Guess who just bought her ticket to see The Faint in Dallas on April 22?

Oh yes, that would be me.
