SCIENCE!

SO!

I spent my lunch break reading about how the Texas Education Board people are going to vote soon on Scientific standards, and how there are already people pushing to get Creationist textbooks into schools because scientists are evil athiests out to eat our childrens, and then writing an email to my Board Member asking her to please please please keep science scientific.

Because, I'm sorry, you wouldn't teach history in math class, so please don't teach religion in science class, even if it IS my religion. It just waters down science, corrupts the scientific method, and teaches kids that you can call anything science if you want it to be true. Respect the science! America is already falling behind other countries in science and technology, where we used to be way ahead, which is just shameful.

So yeah, if you're in Texas, hit up that first link for ways to contact the Texas Board of Education and let them know that science doesn't need to be watered down anymore.

It's official.

Fuzzy's Taco Shop is better than Chipotle.

The burrito I had tonight was the best burrito I've ever had. Ever.

(I am so so so glad they opened up a new location right between me and work)

Guys!

Playing For Keeps will be released on Amazon.com tomorrow. You should all buy this book tomorrow.

It's a book about superheros and supervillans and then some people who have less-than-super powers. Like the guy who can control elevators, or the gal who cannot drop a bar tray, ever. It is an amazing book, and I love it very much. I already have the Lulu.com version, but I'm going to be buying at least one copy tomorrow. I kind of want to buy two but I don't know if I can justify it.

If you want, you can download the entire book as a pdf or the podcast from episode one, to "try before you buy". If you don't like it, we can no longer be friends you don't have to buy it, but I'm pretty sure all of you will dig it, because it's just a really good story.

So. Tomorrow! Amazon.com! Playing For Keeps! Joy! Happiness! Puppies!

Did you know that it is possible for your tongue to get so dry that it goes numb? TRUFAX.

I learned this exciting tidbit of information at approximately 3am this morning. I woke up because of my throat hurting (as I have been every couple of hours every night lately) and went to take a drink of water from the bottle I keep nearby, and realized that I couldn't feel the water on my tongue at all.

That is a disconcerting sensation at 3am, let me tell you!

I left my phone at work, so if you try to call between now and tomorrow morning, rest assured that I'm not ignoring you out of spite.

I just found out from [livejournal.com profile] aishy that my favoritest yarn shop evar, Simpatico, is closing. Forever!

I'm so sad! I love that yarn shop. Maryjane is the nicest lady ever, and it was always so nice to go there and just sit at the table and knit with all the ladies there. The table was always right up front, by the windows, and it was really nice to walk in and hear everyone call out their hellos. And they have needles in every size that I can't find anywhere else! And yarn that is not cheap crappy walmart yarn!

[livejournal.com profile] kandigurl and I are going there after work (btw, Jess, it's cash only right now) to say goodbye.

I'm so sad :-(

So! My phone is officially dead! It's been plugged in overnight for two nights now, and still complains of low battery*, it won't make or receive calls, and it won't send or receive text messages. It isn't connecting to the network at all. The weird part is that it decided to quit working while I was texting Megzilla. I sent one, she replied, and when I went to reply it wouldn't send.

Moral of the story: If you've tried to get in contact with me via phone, I'm not ignoring you. My phone is. My phone is kind of a jerk like that.

So! I'm hitting up the AT&T store on my lunch break. I think I'm due for an upgrade anyways, though I'm definitely not making the mistake again of getting the most stupidly cheap phone on the shelf because ugh I've ended up with some craptastic phones by doing that.

*By the way, why do phones make MORE noise when the battery is dying? Seriously, it beeps like every 30 seconds (possibly an exaggeration) and lights up and uses MORE battery power to tell me it's almost out of battery power. What a stupid idea. How about just popping up a notification when I open my phone, make me acknowledge it, and leave it at that?

Hey!

Lunar Eclipse Wednesday night! Totality around 9:00pm CST through 9:50pm.

Info, which includes a handy table and map about halfway down to figure out where it will be visible. It looks like those of you on the west coast will miss a bit of the beginning, but will be able to see the totality. Everyone east of the Rockie should be able to see the whole thing, as well as those of you in England.

The next Total Lunar Eclipse wil be December 2010. Don't miss this one.

Also, holy cow, this icon is so appropriate for this post. I love this icon.
