In other, non-book related news-

- I signed up for Daring Cooks. I'm not quite brave enough for Daring Bakers yet, but I'm pretty confident in my cooking ability. The first challenge will be posted in a few weeks and I can't wait! I hope it is something awesome.

- My bathroom is so clean, it s*p*a*r*k*l*e*s. You need sunglasses in there, guys, it's that sparkly.

- Not only did I do my laundry today, but I got up early to do it. Well, 9am. That's early on a Saturday when I don't have to be anywhere. I had to set my alarm! And I did it so I could do laundry, which I hate! This is just further proof that I rock.

- Tomorrow I am going to read the next Sookie Stackhouse novel. The whole thing. It's only 342 pages. I have got to get caught up on my "To Read" stack!

- I still can't believe I actually woke up early so I could do laundry. This day should be marked on the calendar and celebrated worldwide. With parades. And balloons for everyone.

- I picked all the meat off my rotisserie chicken, and I am going to freeze the carcass so I can later make homemade stock, to use to make risotto. I've never had risotto before, and I've never made stock before, but I'm determined to do this because it sounds fancy and complicated. And all the cool [livejournal.com profile] cooking kids do it, so clearly I need to.

- I have been awake for far too many hours. I meant to go to bed ages ago, but it kind of forgot to happen. Oops. Good night!

I just projected my budget* and whoooooaaaaaa. My budget is not squeezed! I'm pretty excited by this. I've started giving myself wiggle room on my bills (the goal is to have a month in advance), I've doubled my weekly food budget ($40 a week now! LUXURY) and I'm making good headway on paying ye olde credit carde. It's pretty amazing. I'm not used to actually being able to do things like this. I am so buying another green tomato at the grocery store. Nom nom nom.

I have venison (or elk, it wasn't labeled) thawing in my fridge. I am making chili tomorrow. Nom nom nom.

So, does anyone out there know anything about headphones? My magic headphones are dying, and Shure has more or less said "send us buckets of money and we might fix them!", so I'm just going to get new headphones. I've got a pair of cheapies that are okay for a while, but I really am spoiled on my magic headphones. Thing is, my magic ones were discontinued. There are these things that look like they are the same thing only shinier, but I can't tell how much smaller they are. What I really want is sort of the same thing as my magic headphones, only with smaller buds. I know I'm a heretic for saying this, but sound quality is not a huge issue with me (except for the really really really bad ones). I'm more interested in really comfy headphones. I love the earbuds that go in the ear, so I definitely want another pair like that. I'd prefer not to go tooo crazy on price, but keep in mind my magic ones were about $100 and I would totally buy another pair if they weren't discontinued. Also, I can save up for them.

So. Anyone got any recommendations?

Also, I need new batteries for my book light. Hey, the battery store is open till 7 tomorrow! Sweet.

I am full of rambles. I did not fall asleep last night until about 3am. I was sleepy, and my eyelids were heavy, but sleep did not come. Sleep is a jerk. Stays out partying till the wee hours of the morning, leaving me lying there in bed, wondering when he'll show his lousy face...

Ok, um. Bed. I am tired, clearly.

edit: it is 54 degrees outside. I am opening my window and breaking out the Siberian blanket. I predict kitty cuddles.

*I get my paycheck tomorrow, but I'm just antsy. Because I'm a nerd.

I just found the coolest thing ever on my head.

I found a hair that is 1/3 gray!

It's the middle 1/3 that is gray!

The end is brown, and the bit near the root is brown, but the middle 1/3 is white and coarse. I'm willing to bet that it's from all the stress from the beginning of the year. The length of brown near the root is roughly equal to the length my hair has grown since I decided to grow it back out, so it works. And dang if December/January/February wasn't one of the most stressful times of my life, both in work and emotions.

SO. Now my list of "Stress Symptoms" include nausea and a single hair temporarily turning gray.

This amuses me far more than it should.

OH OH OH. I should have my mom put it in my baby book. "BABY'S FIRST GRAY HAIR". It will go in the back of the book, right after "BABY'S FIRST LIFE CRISIS" and before "BABY'S FIRST CASKET".

Happy Birthday, Internet!

(Is it just me, or is it incredibly fitting that the Internet is 16? It totally is a whiny, angsty teenager who, of course, knows everything.)

((Also, my brother is 16))

I just woke up from my second nap of the day. In my defense, I had to lay down the second time because my head was throbbing and felt like it was going to fall off. I laid flat and covered my eyes (light kind of hurt a little) and then it was 2 1/2 hours later.

The first one was just laziness, though.

My head still kind of hurts, but between the 3 ibuprofen and the 2.5 hours of nap, I can see straight, and the headache is pushed back to just the nape of my neck, so I guess it's all good.

I'm about to go to the store now and buy things to make yummy food with. Someone posted in [livejournal.com profile] cooking about pasta salad and chicken salad, and now I want some. That's a dangerous community to have friended. Dangerous, but yummy.

Ooo, I ought to re-friend [livejournal.com profile] knitting. So much yarny goodness.

My brain is about five kinds of scrambled right now. I should make a list of what I need. Pickles! Cat Litter! Cucumber! There was something else I've already forgotten.... Dang! Apples! And, um. Other stuff? I forget. Bah.

I HAVE A SECRET.

If you can guess what it is, you win a fabulous prize.

(No one will guess it. If I had any money, I would bet it.)
