Anyone know anything about cleaning ovens?

I clearly don't.

So last week when I was making mac&cheese&corn for our Thanksgiving Food Day Bonanza, it boiled over all over the inside of my oven. As in, hey look a puddle of cheese! I promptly turned off the oven and removed the food and threw my smoke detector and my cat in the bathroom and opened the door.

Saturday, I got some oven cleaner and sprayed down the inside of the oven. I did the "cold method", intending to let it set for 8 hours and wipe it clean Sunday. I forgot (read: was lazy) and didn't do it until tonight.

When I went to wipe the oven clean, it all came off beautifully... except for the big puddles o' cheese. And I don't really know how to proceed from here.

Would it be safe to turn the oven on to melt the cheese? Or will I die of fumes or something? Is it okay to scrape the inside of the oven? It's shiny, it's not just metal. I don't want to scratch it up and have to pay for damages when I move out, because I can totally see them completely ripping me off that way.

I miss being able to use my oven :-(

Also, despite wearing gloves, I think I managed to give myself a bit of a chemical burn. Or maybe I'm just super paranoid and it's all in my mind.
