Apartmentness!
Nov. 11th, 2007 12:53 amI'm much more optimistic. I went with Jess to this place she found, and it's awesome.
I have decided to go to my apartment office tomorrow, find out exactly what is required to break my lease (and complain loudly about bugs, office hours, and my still broken blinds), and then go turn in my application and money to the new place. Once I'm approved and am guaranteed the apartment, I will officially give this place notice. I talked to the lady at the new place, and she said that so long as I don't owe this place anything when I break lease, it's totally okay. Given that this will be happening in January, I'll have beaucoup bucks to pay off anything they throw at me (January is CRAZY OVERTIME month, and also a three-paycheck month), so I'm not worried about that part. I've also talked to my dad and he agrees that this is a good plan. I'm much more confident knowing that his opinion agrees with mine.
Also? He asked me what I want for Christmas "from him", and I mentioned that I'd been wanting a bike for a while, and especially wanted one now that I'm going to be at this place so close to River Legacy. He said he'd sneak me one, so I'll still get presents and stuff from "both of them" (read: from mom). My dad is awesome.
So, long story short, I'm REALLY ready for January.
((ALSO ALSO ALSO I WROTE 3000 WORDS TODAY. SWEET.))
- It's in a nice area. It's literally walking distance from River Legacy Park, which is this AWESOME trail-and-tree-filled park. You can throw a rock from some of the buildings, and it will land in the park. WIN.
- I saw a couple of cars parked with their windows down. I would never, ever dream of such a thing here. Unless I was having a nightmare.
- The application + deposit is $135. That is also your first month's rent. This is excellent.
- It is PRETTY. Trees everywhere.
- There are two apartment coming available soon. One cheap efficiency at the start of next month, on the second floor, for Jess. One slightly more expensive efficiency (only $40 more than I'm paying now) on the ground floor for me. In the same building, like two doors down.
- The one that will be available to me will be ready on January 10th. That is pretty much exactly the perfect time; I'll be able to give so many days notice here, but still be OUT as soon as possible.
- The building we will be in is on top of a hill, facing River Legacy, so we will have an EXCELLENT view.
