I'm much more optimistic. I went with Jess to this place she found, and it's awesome.

  • It's in a nice area. It's literally walking distance from River Legacy Park, which is this AWESOME trail-and-tree-filled park. You can throw a rock from some of the buildings, and it will land in the park. WIN.

  • I saw a couple of cars parked with their windows down. I would never, ever dream of such a thing here. Unless I was having a nightmare.

  • The application + deposit is $135. That is also your first month's rent. This is excellent.

  • It is PRETTY. Trees everywhere.

  • There are two apartment coming available soon. One cheap efficiency at the start of next month, on the second floor, for Jess. One slightly more expensive efficiency (only $40 more than I'm paying now) on the ground floor for me. In the same building, like two doors down.

  • The one that will be available to me will be ready on January 10th. That is pretty much exactly the perfect time; I'll be able to give so many days notice here, but still be OUT as soon as possible.

  • The building we will be in is on top of a hill, facing River Legacy, so we will have an EXCELLENT view.

I have decided to go to my apartment office tomorrow, find out exactly what is required to break my lease (and complain loudly about bugs, office hours, and my still broken blinds), and then go turn in my application and money to the new place. Once I'm approved and am guaranteed the apartment, I will officially give this place notice. I talked to the lady at the new place, and she said that so long as I don't owe this place anything when I break lease, it's totally okay. Given that this will be happening in January, I'll have beaucoup bucks to pay off anything they throw at me (January is CRAZY OVERTIME month, and also a three-paycheck month), so I'm not worried about that part. I've also talked to my dad and he agrees that this is a good plan. I'm much more confident knowing that his opinion agrees with mine.

Also? He asked me what I want for Christmas "from him", and I mentioned that I'd been wanting a bike for a while, and especially wanted one now that I'm going to be at this place so close to River Legacy. He said he'd sneak me one, so I'll still get presents and stuff from "both of them" (read: from mom). My dad is awesome.

So, long story short, I'm REALLY ready for January.

((ALSO ALSO ALSO I WROTE 3000 WORDS TODAY. SWEET.))

I just projected my budget* and whoooooaaaaaa. My budget is not squeezed! I'm pretty excited by this. I've started giving myself wiggle room on my bills (the goal is to have a month in advance), I've doubled my weekly food budget ($40 a week now! LUXURY) and I'm making good headway on paying ye olde credit carde. It's pretty amazing. I'm not used to actually being able to do things like this. I am so buying another green tomato at the grocery store. Nom nom nom.

I have venison (or elk, it wasn't labeled) thawing in my fridge. I am making chili tomorrow. Nom nom nom.

So, does anyone out there know anything about headphones? My magic headphones are dying, and Shure has more or less said "send us buckets of money and we might fix them!", so I'm just going to get new headphones. I've got a pair of cheapies that are okay for a while, but I really am spoiled on my magic headphones. Thing is, my magic ones were discontinued. There are these things that look like they are the same thing only shinier, but I can't tell how much smaller they are. What I really want is sort of the same thing as my magic headphones, only with smaller buds. I know I'm a heretic for saying this, but sound quality is not a huge issue with me (except for the really really really bad ones). I'm more interested in really comfy headphones. I love the earbuds that go in the ear, so I definitely want another pair like that. I'd prefer not to go tooo crazy on price, but keep in mind my magic ones were about $100 and I would totally buy another pair if they weren't discontinued. Also, I can save up for them.

So. Anyone got any recommendations?

Also, I need new batteries for my book light. Hey, the battery store is open till 7 tomorrow! Sweet.

I am full of rambles. I did not fall asleep last night until about 3am. I was sleepy, and my eyelids were heavy, but sleep did not come. Sleep is a jerk. Stays out partying till the wee hours of the morning, leaving me lying there in bed, wondering when he'll show his lousy face...

Ok, um. Bed. I am tired, clearly.

edit: it is 54 degrees outside. I am opening my window and breaking out the Siberian blanket. I predict kitty cuddles.

*I get my paycheck tomorrow, but I'm just antsy. Because I'm a nerd.

Permanent accounts are going on sale Thursday, and I have no spare cash. Had they waited a mere two weeks, until my first July paycheck, I would have had no problems.

JERKS. I bet they did that on purpose.

Also I like how half the comments in there are people going "UGH I HATE YOU LIVEJOURNAL" or arguing about how 6Apart is going to RUIN TEH INATWEBS and all that. People are so bent on holding grudges! I hope I never accidentally poke their friend's sister's boyfriend's cousin's dog or anything, or they might make angry icons about me, too!

My shoulder really hurts. Well, most of me hurts, but my shoulder burns, it's not just sore muscle. I really need to find a way to make it not hurt, because it's been getting worse. I blame the Moon. Stupid moon.

I'm going to see if I can finagle some things financially to scrape together $150 in a week. I'd be cutting it reeeeeeeeeeeally close, but I think I can do it. My next insurance payment isn't due until after my first July paycheck, and I think I've already got some allocated to it, so I could use that, and I might have some spare in my Internets box, too. Hmmmmmm...

edit: I CAN do it! Juuuuuuust barely, but I can! WOO!

So, I took my happy-face piggy bank thingy to the coinstar machine in a grocery store down the street, and I saw that there is an option to get various online gift card codes instead of cash, without it taking out 8.9%... so that is what I did.

First I opted for the iTunes gift card, thinking that I only had a couple bucks in there, but when it ended up being $14.92 (plus three pennies that it kept rejecting), I decided to get an Amazon.com gift card code instead.

And clearly, when one has $14.92 to spend on Amazon.com, one immediately buys Hugh Laurie's novel "The Gun Seller". There simply is no other option! Right? Right.

Then I got Chipotle for dinner. See? I knew today was going to be a good day.

PS: Patrick, I finally ripped The Wedding Present CD you made me. I likes it! Sorry it took me so long, but it got kind of really lost on my desk. My desk, you see, is kind of like a black hole; once something is set on the desk, it is gone forever. I should probably clean it off, but... I'm afraid of what I might find.

HUZZAH!

Janna is made of AWESOME and paypal-ed me $40, which it turns out I lent her a few months ago and completely forgot about, so I just went to Lavamind and placed my order and OH MAN GAZILLIONARE DELUXE IS COMING MY WAY HOLY CRAP I CANNOT WAIT AAAAAAAAAAAUGH. Ponies, Zapitalism.

PONIES I got a present from Tyler that I will post about later. I am VERY EXCITED about this as well.

Ponies ponies, it is Friday. WOOOO!

Oh, and Ponies Ponies Ponies, I asked my boss yesterday about transferring to Data Entry, since there is an opening there. It took me all week to work up the courage, and he said he'd consider it. CROSS YOUR FINGERS. I mean, I love my job, I love working here and all that? But a position without collections calls = HEAVEN. Plus I think I am much better at the entry/paperwork side of things, I am terribly awkward on the phone. So, uh, yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up as I know I'm fairly useful in here for doing the things, but at the same time MAN I HOPE IT HAPPENS.

Today is an exciting day.

edit: ok, I just checked my email again and they have already emailed me the strategy guide. LAVAMIND ROCKS EVERYTHING EVAR.

edit again: THEY HAVE ALREADY SHIPPED IT. OH THE GLEE.

OKAY. So. In this post I told y'all about the Lavamind people being MADE OF AWESOME and all that. I emailed them again asking how long I have to take advantage of their offer, and they told me about a month.

And I said "crap", because I will probably not have an extra $35 in the next month.

Then I realized that, for the sake of Gazillionare Deluxe, I am not above begging. Because that game is made of awesome and wootcakes.

Basically, I love you all and you are all my favoritest people EVAR and uh who wants to send me $5 via paypal? I will do something in return for you if you do. I don't know what yet, but ask me and I'll see what I can swing.

Because seriously. Gazillionare Deluxe.

I am wanting to play it so freaking badly. I want to hear Mr Zinn's "neehhhhhhhhh" again, y'all, and the sound of buying a ton of whipped cream. I want to fly to Mira to meet the Quaso Mutta and run across Iso, the painfully shy monk who gives you money he doesn't want. I want to grind my competition into dust, and have the most awesome brain-shaped ship EVAR. I want to visit Pyke again to get my engine upgraded. ZOOM ZOOM.

My paypal address, by the by, is syntheticjesso@gmail.com, and I will forever honor and hold in general high regard anyone who wants to help me get my game back.

For the NEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Hi LJ! I feel better. Being sick is unfun! But I'm better now! )

Ponies, thanks to everyone who sent me text messages. I usually do not want attention when I am sick, and prefer to curl up in a lonely corner until I am better, but this time I was in full-on attention whore mode, and I really appreciated the text messages. Extra thanks to Nathan for telling people I wanted attention, since I didn't realize how close to tears I was until I got home and it was quiet and empty and internetless.

In other news, I finally explained to my mom today that I have no monies for the next month or two, and that I may be a little while paying her back for cell phone stuff. I was genuinely surprised (and releived) when she didn't gloat about it. I mean, my mom never, ever makes it easy to tell her about problems. Well, she didn't really make this easy, either, but at least she restrained herself to an "I told you so"/"I knew this would happen" sort of attitude instead of going into full-on gloating lecture mode.

So I am at my parents' house now, for the internet. Everyone is gone, and I've raided the fridge for my third tiny meal of the day (potatoes + sausage + eggs, I think, leftovers from something) and I am feeling finer than a frog's hair. My mom gave me a jar of sundried tomatoes in oil, and since I just found a recipe on my computer (hi I hoard recipes sometimes) for Sundried Tomato Alfredo Sauce, I think I forsee cooking in my future sometimes this week. I just need to get the rest of the stuff the recipe calls for. Mmmmm, sundried tomatoes.

I think that's really all I have to say, besides some stuff that's going into a separate entry in a minute because it's about girly stuff. See how considerate I am? I will even put it behind a cut, because I care.

....Oh. Crap. Well then.

Right, so until my next paycheck, on June 7, I officially have $26.44 to spend on anything. So much for Scarborough Faire this weekend.

Oh. Um.
