Okay, so a while back one of you LJ people posted a thing about how to cheaply get "art" onto a wall. It involved Flickr and some site with cheap printing/framing, or maybe just having it printed and going DIY with the frame? And whoever posted it used a landscape, I think, maybe of an orange sunset? Or maybe just something orange? Does this ring a bell to anyone? I could swear it was posted by one of my LJ friends.

I want a Firefox plugin that can remember tabs one two computers. Like, so I can open a tab on break at work, and if I don't get a chance to read/reply/whatever, when I close my browser it will remember that tab and when I get home I can open up my home browser and BAM! There it is.

A meme and some thoughts

Last night I was zonked by 9, and at some point Megan called me. I remember hearing the phone ringing, and I remember saying "MEH" to the phone. She left a message, and I slept on. But! My phone likes to remind me that I have messages periodically, so it beeped at me throughout the night. I guess it woke me up a few times, because I have the memories of getting up and going over to my alarm clock to hit snooze, and then being very confused by the lack of alarm. This happened a couple times. On the plus side, when my alarm went off for real, I ended up hitting snooze fewer times than normal, because part of my brain thought I'd already hit snooze a couple times. Go, brain!
Someone buy me this. I need it. For star parties, for my porch, for NaNoWriMo writing in parks... It is necessary. Clearly.
Speaking of NaNoWriMo! I have a big post brewing on that very topic. It is currently about half finished, waiting patiently in a private post for me to get around to finishing it. I should do that tonight.

With all the beeping, lighting up, and vibrating that phones do when they are low on juice, they could probably last days longer if they'd just shut up about it. Also, I should probably get a real phone charger to replace the one Hawking chewed through. I'm currently using my USB cord to charge it, which is inconvenient because I can't do anything with the phone while it's charging. No talking, no texting, no nuffin'. So I put it off for days, and then my phone dies while I'm texting. I blame the media. And video games.
Going back to the topic of NaNoWriMo, I need an idea. You see, I've been playing with yWriter (I'm actually starting to poke at and sort-of edit Syrup!), and while it is a cool program, I can't really dig into it unless I'm writing something new. Plugging in a pre-existing book is okay, but kind of meh. So I'm thinking I'll use it for NaNoWriMo, for two reasons: 1) I want to see if I can do a novel without flying by the seat of my pants, and 2) I want to play with this program. My plan is to use yWriter to set up an outline, and figure out all the scenes, then transfer the scene descriptions to index cards for portableness. Then when I'm off writing with others, or just over there on my couch, I can pick an index card and write that scene, then plug it into yWriter when I feel like it. I'll leave plenty of room for improvisation, of course, because I don't think I could completely give up the madness that NaNo writing can bring (a certain fishy dream sequence comes to mind). But, overall, I'd like to have the thing plotted out.

Oct. 28th, 2007 10:40 pmIt just hit me that on Thursday I will start writing my new novel, and I have no idea what I'm going to write about. This time last year, I at least had a name I loved. This year, I got nothing. And I'm a liiiiiiiiiittle bit freaked out.
Names, anyone? I don't know if I can ever top "Queightiey" as a name, but I hope I can find one I like at least half as much as I loved Queightiey. I think if I have a name, I'll be okay. A name, and a first word.

I just projected my budget* and whoooooaaaaaa. My budget is not squeezed! I'm pretty excited by this. I've started giving myself wiggle room on my bills (the goal is to have a month in advance), I've doubled my weekly food budget ($40 a week now! LUXURY) and I'm making good headway on paying ye olde credit carde. It's pretty amazing. I'm not used to actually being able to do things like this. I am so buying another green tomato at the grocery store. Nom nom nom.
I have venison (or elk, it wasn't labeled) thawing in my fridge. I am making chili tomorrow. Nom nom nom.
So, does anyone out there know anything about headphones? My magic headphones are dying, and Shure has more or less said "send us buckets of money and we might fix them!", so I'm just going to get new headphones. I've got a pair of cheapies that are okay for a while, but I really am spoiled on my magic headphones. Thing is, my magic ones were discontinued. There are these things that look like they are the same thing only shinier, but I can't tell how much smaller they are. What I really want is sort of the same thing as my magic headphones, only with smaller buds. I know I'm a heretic for saying this, but sound quality is not a huge issue with me (except for the really really really bad ones). I'm more interested in really comfy headphones. I love the earbuds that go in the ear, so I definitely want another pair like that. I'd prefer not to go tooo crazy on price, but keep in mind my magic ones were about $100 and I would totally buy another pair if they weren't discontinued. Also, I can save up for them.
So. Anyone got any recommendations?
Also, I need new batteries for my book light. Hey, the battery store is open till 7 tomorrow! Sweet.
I am full of rambles. I did not fall asleep last night until about 3am. I was sleepy, and my eyelids were heavy, but sleep did not come. Sleep is a jerk. Stays out partying till the wee hours of the morning, leaving me lying there in bed, wondering when he'll show his lousy face...
Ok, um. Bed. I am tired, clearly.
edit: it is 54 degrees outside. I am opening my window and breaking out the Siberian blanket. I predict kitty cuddles.
*I get my paycheck tomorrow, but I'm just antsy. Because I'm a nerd.

There are these things that look like they are the same thing only shinier, but I can't tell how much smaller they are. What I really want is sort of the same thing as my magic headphones, only with smaller buds. I know I'm a heretic for saying this, but sound quality is not a huge issue with me (except for the really really really bad ones). I'm more interested in really comfy headphones. I love the earbuds that go in the ear, so I definitely want another pair like that. I'd prefer not to go tooo crazy on price, but keep in mind my magic ones were about $100 and I would totally buy another pair if they weren't discontinued. Also, I can save up for them.
So. Anyone got any recommendations?
Also, I need new batteries for my book light. Hey, the battery store is open till 7 tomorrow! Sweet.
I am full of rambles. I did not fall asleep last night until about 3am. I was sleepy, and my eyelids were heavy, but sleep did not come. Sleep is a jerk. Stays out partying till the wee hours of the morning, leaving me lying there in bed, wondering when he'll show his lousy face...
Ok, um. Bed. I am tired, clearly.
edit: it is 54 degrees outside. I am opening my window and breaking out the Siberian blanket. I predict kitty cuddles.

Mondey night I reserved my copy of Chibi-Robo for the DS (he's in a PARK! :D :D :D), and Tuesday night they called me back and said it had been cancelled. But when I started looking to find out why, it looks like maybe it's not cancelled? I can't tell. It looks like it just got pushed back. I found one article somewhere that said it was originally scheduled for September, but got pushed back to October, and when that happened Gamestop cancelled everyone's reservations. I think maybe this happened again? I keep finding all sorts of dates, from September to November. I'm not good at digging through all this mess and figuring it out. I don't know which sites are actually, yanno, accurate. No one, though, has said a word about it being cancelled.
