- Yesterday I shot video of myself, learned how to edit video, then signed up for myspace in order to submit said video to a contest to meet Muse. THE THINGS I DO FOR THIS BAND.

- I like the new Doctor. It will take me some time to get used to him, I think, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to love him. I already love Amy. Girl's got her sassypants on.

- Despite how much I hate the allergy part of it, Spring is really a pretty season. I always forget how much I like the sight of new green grass blowing in the breeze before they cut it. In traffic on the highway today, I got to watch the tall grass on the sides of the highway and it was nice. Bright green grass and bright green trees and pretty blue skies. So pretty. If only I could live in a bubble for the season, it'd be great.

- Have I mentioned that I've got a third cat here? I'm keeping [livejournal.com profile] feigned_living's cat Janet while she looks for an apartment. Janet is both sweet & adorable AND rotten & evil. One minute she'll be purring on my lap, the next she'll be tearing after Hawking wanting to "play". The cat drama in the apartment is epic. Hawking and Janet are almost friends, though- today they were chasing each other around without any growling! For about 10 minutes! I was shocked. Tesla is still standoffish, though.

- Actually, Tesla is amazing. When Janet started harassing Hawking more than Hawking liked, Tesla totally slapped Janet on the top of the head to get her to leave Hawking alone. I kiiiiiind of wanted to give her a high five, except she's a cat. She's been really protective of Hawking, and it's really sweet. Tesla is such a momma cat, even without her claws. But I made the appropriate "hey I do not like fighting" noises, because that's the thing to do.

- There was a notice on my car this morning from the Arlington Police Department. Apparently they came around and did a sort of inspection of cars, to check for things that would make a car a target for burglary, and then left "report cards". My car passed. I thought it was pretty cool that they would do something like that, just as a public service. I really do like the Arlington PD. Every time I've had to deal with them (due to Ben Garcia or Beatrice Sandovall's warrants) they've been super nice. I know cops can have a bad rap in some cities, but Arlington police have always been awesome in my experience.

- I used to talk to these guys online all the time, back in 2001-2004 or so, and now they are touring Europe. I am so happy for them. That is so cool. Also, it seems they've stuck with this band name for more than three seconds, which is a new record I think!

- Actually, I'm really proud of them, honestly. They have won an NME award and apparently Morrissey went to see their show. That is super awesome.

- I am babysitting 4 of the next 6 nights.

- I really want to scrape the stickers off the back window of my car, and get new ones.

- I've had the urge to do something ridiculous for a while now. I shall use some of my babysitting funds to do something ridiculous. I'm not sure what it will be yet, but it will be ridiculous, and also epic.

- Janet is currently chasing her tail. Enthusiastically.

- I'm sleepy, so I'm going to bed.

[Poll #1465719]

Question 1: I pretty much never make my bed. I don't see the point- I'm just going to sleep again and mess it up again, right? Once, when I was a kid, between the ages of 5-8 because I was still going to that one elementary school, my mom told me I absolutely had to make my bed before I went to school. My response? "Why? I'm not taking my bed to school or anything." And then my mom realized with horror that I am indeed my dad's daughter.

Question 2: I'M GETTING SO ANTSY, GUYS. I want to start posting the polls NOW. I want to see what I'm going to be writing! I've already decided that when I post the polls, I'm going to leave them up for at least a few days, and I'm not going to look at the results until each poll finishes. Unless it drives me batty and I can't resist looking.

PS: All of you should go watch the community of the polling and help vote on what's gonna happen in my novel.

PPS: The ants from my previous post are ALL DEAD. When I got home yesterday, I noticed lots of black stuff all around the ant hills. When I got closer, I realized the black stuff was dead ants. Whatever the bug guy put down, those ants are DEAD. I do believe I won this war. That'll teach them to bite me in my sleep. *shakes fist at stupid ants*

1) These new Torchwood episodes are amazing. I mean, for serious, like OMG, and all that. This tweet sums it up nicely. Plus, man, Gwen is so hardcore.

2) I want to print this out and hit Jenny McCarthy with it so I can say I am hitting her with SCIENCE. You know, science done with actual research, instead of the kind where you just say "BUT NO THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO BELIEVE SO I WILL YELL AT YOU AND REFUSE TO LISTEN TO ANYTHING YOU SAY RAR RAR RAR."

3) I really want to make this. Maybe this weekend.

4) I had something else to say, but I got distracted... ummmmmmm... kittens are adorable?

5) OH! Yeah! I remember. I've been watching Party Animals, since Matt Smith is in it and I wanted to see what he's like before he becomes The Doctor. Guys, this guy is adorable. He's going to be a pretty good Doctor, I think. Possibly up to Tennant's level of goodness. He's even got the fully poseable hair, like Tennant. I am now officially excited for the next season of Doctor Who, instead of just dreading it.

6) How do you actually spell poseable? Spellcheck doesn't recognize "poseable" or "posable". A Googlefight tells me that "poseable" has more results, and that's the spelling that comes more naturally to me, but I'm still not sure. Stupid words.

Oh hey LJ, I haven't really updated in about five years or something. Let's make a list. Well, a list-ish thing.

TODAY: I went to dinner with my dad for belated Father's Day goodness. Of course, since I left straight from work, I couldn't give him his present, since it was at home, but that can be delivered later.

YESTERDAY: I harangued the OwnerGuy of NEW YORK'S FAMOUS PIZZA AND FRIED CHICKEN (that name will never get old) for not having falafel. You see, last week he told me that he does have falafel and hummus, just not on the menu. Yesterday, he was all "oh noooooo, I hate falafel, it looks gross, whine whine whine" so I griped at him. Then he gave me free hummus to shut me up. The hummus was delicious. By the way, have I told you guys about this place? It's pretty amazing. I drive by it on my way home from work, and the sign has intrigued me since they put it up a few months ago. I was really curious, but also kind of frightened- I figured that no place could really do pizza and fried chicken well. Then finally a few weeks ago we gave the place a try and it turns out the food is delicious, and they also serve burgers, Italian food, Greek food, and wing in addition to the pizza and fried chicken. And the OwnerGuy is a firm believer in picking on people. The abuse we've been missing since Steve left Coffee Haus can now be gotten at NEW YORK'S FAMOUS PIZZA AND FRIED CHICKEN. (seriously, say that name out loud, it's amazing)

LAST WEEKEND: I worked. Guys, going from 4 8-hour days to suddenly working long days PLUS long weekend days is hard. But we are getting crap done, and that is a Good Thing(tm). That's part of the reason I've not been so posty- I'm just tired.

RECENTLY: I've also been playing a lot of The Sims 3. My homeless girl grew up, suffered through her teenage years (high school was very stressful, and trying to work a job on top of that while sleeping in a park was hard on her), and finally became a young adult. Then she moved out of her dad's abandoned park to her own empty lot, and bought a couch with the money she made working at the grocery store as a teen. She had just a couch on the lot, then she got a job in an office building and saved up until she could make a 2x2 room for a toilet. She doesn't have a sink yet, but that's definitely next. Her lifetime wish is to have a net worth of 100,000 Simoleans. So far she's up to almost 2,000. As soon as she can afford a bed, so she can actually get enough sleep to function, she's going to start fishing and rock collecting and gardening for money. She is very determined to get herself out of the pit her father is in. I'm secretly rooting for her.

NOT RECENTLY AT ALL: I took this picture:

I actually took this picture in May of 2008, and forgot to post it. I think it's another example of an amazingly-named business.

BACK TO RECENTLY: So last... uhh... Saturday? I think? Let's call it Saturday. On Saturday I met up with [livejournal.com profile] drninja at Tandoor for delicious Indian food and excellent hanging-out-age. We caught up and reminisced, and then the waitress assumed we were a couple, just like old times. It was kind of hilarious. And now I need to find that program I used to rip DVDs to my computer, so I can get the last two episodes of The Hitchhiker's Guide DVD set that I borrowed from him. I can't even remember what it's called anymore.

OVERALL: Life is busy, but quite good!

In other, non-book related news-

- I signed up for Daring Cooks. I'm not quite brave enough for Daring Bakers yet, but I'm pretty confident in my cooking ability. The first challenge will be posted in a few weeks and I can't wait! I hope it is something awesome.

- My bathroom is so clean, it s*p*a*r*k*l*e*s. You need sunglasses in there, guys, it's that sparkly.

- Not only did I do my laundry today, but I got up early to do it. Well, 9am. That's early on a Saturday when I don't have to be anywhere. I had to set my alarm! And I did it so I could do laundry, which I hate! This is just further proof that I rock.

- Tomorrow I am going to read the next Sookie Stackhouse novel. The whole thing. It's only 342 pages. I have got to get caught up on my "To Read" stack!

- I still can't believe I actually woke up early so I could do laundry. This day should be marked on the calendar and celebrated worldwide. With parades. And balloons for everyone.

- I picked all the meat off my rotisserie chicken, and I am going to freeze the carcass so I can later make homemade stock, to use to make risotto. I've never had risotto before, and I've never made stock before, but I'm determined to do this because it sounds fancy and complicated. And all the cool [livejournal.com profile] cooking kids do it, so clearly I need to.

- I have been awake for far too many hours. I meant to go to bed ages ago, but it kind of forgot to happen. Oops. Good night!

So last night I got home and sat down to read, planning to read Watchmen for a bit then get up and find some dinner. Except I fell asleep around 6:30 or so, and slept until this morning, except for waking up to change into pajamas sometime after 10.

This morning, I thought my stomach was about to start devouring my spleen. Oh man.

So I stopped and got a burrito at Sonic, and I'm here at work early checking my email before I clock in, and my stomach is STILL growling, even after the burrito. My stomach is not happy with me. I'm sorry, stomach, that I fell asleep before I fed you! Blame the brain, for not letting me sleep the night before so I was tired all day yesterday.

We have the day off! No, we have the WEEKEND off! This was completely unexpected. BossLady said she was trying to get us a weekend off yesterday, and we were hoping, but we didn't really know for sure until she didn't call us in this morning. Woo!

I have Big Plans for this weekend. Cooking, cleaning, knitting, reading, Animal Crossing, and lots of SLEEP. Oh, and lots of cuddling my cats. They aren't quite sure what to do with me home all day. I think they missed me. Hawking slept on/with me all night, which she usually doesn't do, and now Tesla refuses to leave my lap for anything.

Let's make a list!
- Open windows!
- Clean kitchen & run dishwasher
- Clean catbox
- Clean bedroom
- Clean closet
- Go through all the junk that's accumulated and trash it.
- Hopefully find coupon for the converter box so my TV will work after they switch to digital
- Take out trash
- Make nontraditional feijoada in my crockpot with venison
- Make rice in my new rice maker (that Brandy gave me last night) (*glee*)
- Consume delicious feijoada & rice
- Watch Indiana Jones movies lent to me by coworker
- Knit swatches!
- Begin knitting Rogue with awesome colored cables
- Read new George MacDonald book I got from paperbackswap.com
- Play Animal Crossing
- Upload last two days' pictures for Project 365

This list makes me happy. I will probably do most of it today, and spend tomorrow being wonderfully lazy. I am going to revel in this weekend off.

PS: I LOVE PAPERBACKSWAP.COM SO MUCH. I'm mailing off books that are just collecting dust on my shelf, and getting GEORGE MACDONALD in return! I got my first book last night, and I have another already winging it's way to me. My fangirly heart is very pleased by this.

PPS: Tesla is laying on my left arm, from elbow to wrist. I think she's trying to tell me something.

So the other day I placed an order on Amazon.com for a lazy susan (to make a swift!), part of my mom's Christmas present, and a pre-order for Dr Horrible on DVD (only $9.99! you should all get a copy!). Somehow I selected, or didn't de-select, the option to ship it all at once. Later I realized my mistake, and realized that since Dr Horrible is coming out on December 19, my mom's present wouldn't make it here in time.

So at 11am on December 10, I revised the order to ship the stuff separately.

The box with my mom's present and the lazy susan arrived at 9:24am the very next day.

Whoooaaaaaaa.

When I look at the tracking number on UPS, the only thing it shows is the delivery. It doesn't show it leaving amazon's warehouse, or ever being in transit. It just miraculously showed up at work the next morning, less than 24 hours after I asked them to ship it.

Conclusion: Amazon shipped my order via TARDIS, not UPS. There is no other explanation.

Okay, Tuesday, you're shaping up to be better than Monday so far, but you're only halfway through the task. You'd better keep this up, or you'll be fired along with Monday. I expect good things from you after the treatment I got from your colleague yesterday.

I'm keeping my eye on you, Tuesday. Don't think I'm not watching.
