- Yesterday I shot video of myself, learned how to edit video, then signed up for myspace in order to submit said video to a contest to meet Muse. THE THINGS I DO FOR THIS BAND.

- I like the new Doctor. It will take me some time to get used to him, I think, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to love him. I already love Amy. Girl's got her sassypants on.

- Despite how much I hate the allergy part of it, Spring is really a pretty season. I always forget how much I like the sight of new green grass blowing in the breeze before they cut it. In traffic on the highway today, I got to watch the tall grass on the sides of the highway and it was nice. Bright green grass and bright green trees and pretty blue skies. So pretty. If only I could live in a bubble for the season, it'd be great.

- Have I mentioned that I've got a third cat here? I'm keeping [livejournal.com profile] feigned_living's cat Janet while she looks for an apartment. Janet is both sweet & adorable AND rotten & evil. One minute she'll be purring on my lap, the next she'll be tearing after Hawking wanting to "play". The cat drama in the apartment is epic. Hawking and Janet are almost friends, though- today they were chasing each other around without any growling! For about 10 minutes! I was shocked. Tesla is still standoffish, though.

- Actually, Tesla is amazing. When Janet started harassing Hawking more than Hawking liked, Tesla totally slapped Janet on the top of the head to get her to leave Hawking alone. I kiiiiiind of wanted to give her a high five, except she's a cat. She's been really protective of Hawking, and it's really sweet. Tesla is such a momma cat, even without her claws. But I made the appropriate "hey I do not like fighting" noises, because that's the thing to do.

- There was a notice on my car this morning from the Arlington Police Department. Apparently they came around and did a sort of inspection of cars, to check for things that would make a car a target for burglary, and then left "report cards". My car passed. I thought it was pretty cool that they would do something like that, just as a public service. I really do like the Arlington PD. Every time I've had to deal with them (due to Ben Garcia or Beatrice Sandovall's warrants) they've been super nice. I know cops can have a bad rap in some cities, but Arlington police have always been awesome in my experience.

- I used to talk to these guys online all the time, back in 2001-2004 or so, and now they are touring Europe. I am so happy for them. That is so cool. Also, it seems they've stuck with this band name for more than three seconds, which is a new record I think!

- Actually, I'm really proud of them, honestly. They have won an NME award and apparently Morrissey went to see their show. That is super awesome.

- I am babysitting 4 of the next 6 nights.

- I really want to scrape the stickers off the back window of my car, and get new ones.

- I've had the urge to do something ridiculous for a while now. I shall use some of my babysitting funds to do something ridiculous. I'm not sure what it will be yet, but it will be ridiculous, and also epic.

- Janet is currently chasing her tail. Enthusiastically.

- I'm sleepy, so I'm going to bed.

OMG.

So, since I need to get new license plates anyways, thanks to this Ben Garcia fellow, I was thinking that I could totally get vanity plates, just to be ridiculous.

I could get them to say "Stella"

Or "314159"

:D

Why is the world in love again? Why are we marching hand in haaaaand? Why are the ocean levels rising up? It's a BRAND NEW RECORD for 1990, They Might Be Giants brand new album FLOOOOOOOOOOD!!!

Man, I'm a nerd. That's the first thing that popped into my head when I typed that subject line. That's from memory. Because I'm a nerd.

ANYWAYS.

It was totally raining hardcore today. Today being TUESDAY.

Yesterday, I spent all day trying to remember what it was that I was doing Tuesday after work. Turns out, I was going to the weekly Dinner-Thing that my new church has going on. Luckily, I got an email with directions today, so I was reminded. My memory is very much like a sieve sometimes. Except with lyrics to album theme songs.

So I went home from work, picked up the bag of cheese I said I'd bring (because I'm broke and already had a bag of cheese handy), and then headed out to the place. Riiiiiight as it started pouring. So I'm going down the highway, and I merge onto another one, hydroplane for a while (I think maybe I need better tires), and then traffic slows to a crawl. We crawl along for about a mile, and then I see why.

Both lanes of the two-lane highway* are flooded. Completely, like a couple inches deep.

So everyone was merging as far to the left as possible, where it was a little shallower, getting on the shoulder and hoping. Only, we couldn't really get that far over, because they recently installed these stupid wire barrier things right along the edge of the pavement, so there is only about... 2-3 feet past the edge line? I'm a terrible judge of distance, but it's definitely not even enough to pull a disabled car over if you needed to. AND, right past the line it was crazy potholed, because of the flooding and the unusual amount of traffic over it, so it was very, very bouncy. Think "sine wave".

Poor Stella. Deep water AND potholes. She wasn't very happy about it, but she didn't even squeal that wet-engine squeal, and her brakes responded perfectly when I gave them a test-pump afterwards (I was taught to ALWAYS check the brakes after going through any water deep enough to splash, so that if they are soggy I know about it before I need them). Stella's really a good car.

♥ for Stella!

... Record daily maximum rainfall set at dfw international Airport...

a record rainfall of 2.45 inches was set at dfw international
Airport today. This breaks the old record of 2.31 set in 1928.

With rain still possible at the Airport through 1 am (06z)... this
rain total may increase. An official total will be issued after 1 am.

*For those of you who know the area, it was on 820, on the southbound lanes of the east side of the loop. You know, the bit right after it narrows to two lanes, and there's that crazy long off-on ramp thing for Craig and Lancaster and that other street? There. And all the people who tried to take that side ramp thing to skip around the traffic were routed off the highway altogether, because the water was running over that and flooding the highway below it. So they thought they were being slick, but they got routed off through the ghetto. HA.
