LIST:
- Yesterday I shot video of myself, learned how to edit video, then signed up for myspace in order to submit said video to a contest to meet Muse. THE THINGS I DO FOR THIS BAND.

- I like the new Doctor. It will take me some time to get used to him, I think, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to love him. I already love Amy. Girl's got her sassypants on.

- Despite how much I hate the allergy part of it, Spring is really a pretty season. I always forget how much I like the sight of new green grass blowing in the breeze before they cut it. In traffic on the highway today, I got to watch the tall grass on the sides of the highway and it was nice. Bright green grass and bright green trees and pretty blue skies. So pretty. If only I could live in a bubble for the season, it'd be great.

- Have I mentioned that I've got a third cat here? I'm keeping [livejournal.com profile] feigned_living's cat Janet while she looks for an apartment. Janet is both sweet & adorable AND rotten & evil. One minute she'll be purring on my lap, the next she'll be tearing after Hawking wanting to "play". The cat drama in the apartment is epic. Hawking and Janet are almost friends, though- today they were chasing each other around without any growling! For about 10 minutes! I was shocked. Tesla is still standoffish, though.

- Actually, Tesla is amazing. When Janet started harassing Hawking more than Hawking liked, Tesla totally slapped Janet on the top of the head to get her to leave Hawking alone. I kiiiiiind of wanted to give her a high five, except she's a cat. She's been really protective of Hawking, and it's really sweet. Tesla is such a momma cat, even without her claws. But I made the appropriate "hey I do not like fighting" noises, because that's the thing to do.

- There was a notice on my car this morning from the Arlington Police Department. Apparently they came around and did a sort of inspection of cars, to check for things that would make a car a target for burglary, and then left "report cards". My car passed. I thought it was pretty cool that they would do something like that, just as a public service. I really do like the Arlington PD. Every time I've had to deal with them (due to Ben Garcia or Beatrice Sandovall's warrants) they've been super nice. I know cops can have a bad rap in some cities, but Arlington police have always been awesome in my experience.

- I used to talk to these guys online all the time, back in 2001-2004 or so, and now they are touring Europe. I am so happy for them. That is so cool. Also, it seems they've stuck with this band name for more than three seconds, which is a new record I think!

- Actually, I'm really proud of them, honestly. They have won an NME award and apparently Morrissey went to see their show. That is super awesome.

- I am babysitting 4 of the next 6 nights.

- I really want to scrape the stickers off the back window of my car, and get new ones.

- I've had the urge to do something ridiculous for a while now. I shall use some of my babysitting funds to do something ridiculous. I'm not sure what it will be yet, but it will be ridiculous, and also epic.

- Janet is currently chasing her tail. Enthusiastically.

- I'm sleepy, so I'm going to bed.

So I realized the other day that my 1001 days for doing 101 things was up sometime in February. I looked, and yup, my list expired on February 20. Oops. I did finish 32 of the things on the list, and several more were in progress, so yay for getting about 1/3 of it done. I could have done worse.

Anyways, I've decided to do it again, because why not? Having a To-Do list is motivating. Some of the 32 things I got done probably wouldn't have been done if they hadn't been on my list.

I'm setting my start date as March 26, 2010. Yes, this is three days ago, but it means that my finish date is December 21, 2012, aka THE DAY THE WORLD ENDS. This way, I'm more motivated to finish everything, because whatever isn't finished will never be done because THE WORLD WILL END*.

So, in that spirit, here is my list: The list OF DOOOOOOOOOOM )

*Yes, I know the world will not actually end on that day. Hush. It's funny.

Day off!

Jan. 24th, 2010 12:08 pm
jesso: (Video games ruined my life)
I have the day off! I think this is the first time I've ever had Sunday off during Buy Weekend, usually we're working the whole weekend trying to get everything in. Me and a lady from another department entered so fast our fingers nearly caught fire.

Last night I played Tetris for about an hour across the internet with [livejournal.com profile] nathew. It was pretty obvious when I started getting tired because I went from winning almost all of them to losing almost all of them. The blocks, they were not going where I wanted them to, and my thumbs were not cooperating!

I slept in, until Hawking jumped on my bladder. I swear she does that on purpose on mornings when I'm trying to sleep in, because that's the ONLY time she does that. There is a reason her nickname is "Rotten Little Monster."

I have Things To Do today! I'm making a list here so I can feel accomplished as I cross them off:
- Run Dishwasher
- Empty vacuum canister and put vacuum in car Okay, so it turns out my vacuum was not broken, but waiting for me to empty the canister. Really glad I tried turning it on before sending it to be fixed. I feel S-M-R-T now. At least I can vacuum now?
- Bring in boxes from car
- Clean out closet and pack up everything in there
- Transfer AT&T service to new apartment Turns out AT&T LIES, and you can't do this online. I'll have to call tomorrow.
- Clean out fridge
- Clean bathroom till it sparkles
- Clean catbox
- Take out trash
- Visit Home Depot for paint and ask about blinds
- Email dad and ask when his flight to Michigan is so I can maybe get the same flight
- Also ask dad about getting that neat roll-top desk from their house to my new apartment.
- Go to grocery store for milk and... uh, I forgot what else. See, this is why lists are good! Once again, I left my grocery list at home, and forgot the most important thing. I'll be going back to the store tomorrow, because I refuse to go back again today just for TP, because I'm just shy enough to feel judged when they recognize me.

Tomorrow, I need to:
- Call movers and give them my new apartment number, and ask if I need to take stuff out of my desk and dresser drawers
- Call current apartment office and ask if they really think I'm going to pay a "final water bill" that is sooooooo obviously wrong. They obviously saw that it's twice the usual amount, they have had to revise water bills before, and yet they expect me to pay it? Nuh-uh.
- Stop by the post office and get an address change packet
- Call AT&T about moving my service, since their website can't handle such an outrageous request unless I'm buying a more expensive bundle. AT&T, you can't see me, but I'm making a very rude gesture at you.

In one week, I will be putting my key and forwarding address in the drop box here, and leaving this place for good. Then I will go to my new apartment and party. And by "party", I mean "unpack".

Whew. Okay. I need to get going on this stuff I guess.

1) These new Torchwood episodes are amazing. I mean, for serious, like OMG, and all that. This tweet sums it up nicely. Plus, man, Gwen is so hardcore.

2) I want to print this out and hit Jenny McCarthy with it so I can say I am hitting her with SCIENCE. You know, science done with actual research, instead of the kind where you just say "BUT NO THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO BELIEVE SO I WILL YELL AT YOU AND REFUSE TO LISTEN TO ANYTHING YOU SAY RAR RAR RAR."

3) I really want to make this. Maybe this weekend.

4) I had something else to say, but I got distracted... ummmmmmm... kittens are adorable?

5) OH! Yeah! I remember. I've been watching Party Animals, since Matt Smith is in it and I wanted to see what he's like before he becomes The Doctor. Guys, this guy is adorable. He's going to be a pretty good Doctor, I think. Possibly up to Tennant's level of goodness. He's even got the fully poseable hair, like Tennant. I am now officially excited for the next season of Doctor Who, instead of just dreading it.

6) How do you actually spell poseable? Spellcheck doesn't recognize "poseable" or "posable". A Googlefight tells me that "poseable" has more results, and that's the spelling that comes more naturally to me, but I'm still not sure. Stupid words.

In other, non-book related news-

- I signed up for Daring Cooks. I'm not quite brave enough for Daring Bakers yet, but I'm pretty confident in my cooking ability. The first challenge will be posted in a few weeks and I can't wait! I hope it is something awesome.

- My bathroom is so clean, it s*p*a*r*k*l*e*s. You need sunglasses in there, guys, it's that sparkly.

- Not only did I do my laundry today, but I got up early to do it. Well, 9am. That's early on a Saturday when I don't have to be anywhere. I had to set my alarm! And I did it so I could do laundry, which I hate! This is just further proof that I rock.

- Tomorrow I am going to read the next Sookie Stackhouse novel. The whole thing. It's only 342 pages. I have got to get caught up on my "To Read" stack!

- I still can't believe I actually woke up early so I could do laundry. This day should be marked on the calendar and celebrated worldwide. With parades. And balloons for everyone.

- I picked all the meat off my rotisserie chicken, and I am going to freeze the carcass so I can later make homemade stock, to use to make risotto. I've never had risotto before, and I've never made stock before, but I'm determined to do this because it sounds fancy and complicated. And all the cool [livejournal.com profile] cooking kids do it, so clearly I need to.

- I have been awake for far too many hours. I meant to go to bed ages ago, but it kind of forgot to happen. Oops. Good night!

We have the day off! No, we have the WEEKEND off! This was completely unexpected. BossLady said she was trying to get us a weekend off yesterday, and we were hoping, but we didn't really know for sure until she didn't call us in this morning. Woo!

I have Big Plans for this weekend. Cooking, cleaning, knitting, reading, Animal Crossing, and lots of SLEEP. Oh, and lots of cuddling my cats. They aren't quite sure what to do with me home all day. I think they missed me. Hawking slept on/with me all night, which she usually doesn't do, and now Tesla refuses to leave my lap for anything.

Let's make a list!
- Open windows!
- Clean kitchen & run dishwasher
- Clean catbox
- Clean bedroom
- Clean closet
- Go through all the junk that's accumulated and trash it.
- Hopefully find coupon for the converter box so my TV will work after they switch to digital
- Take out trash
- Make nontraditional feijoada in my crockpot with venison
- Make rice in my new rice maker (that Brandy gave me last night) (*glee*)
- Consume delicious feijoada & rice
- Watch Indiana Jones movies lent to me by coworker
- Knit swatches!
- Begin knitting Rogue with awesome colored cables
- Read new George MacDonald book I got from paperbackswap.com
- Play Animal Crossing
- Upload last two days' pictures for Project 365

This list makes me happy. I will probably do most of it today, and spend tomorrow being wonderfully lazy. I am going to revel in this weekend off.

PS: I LOVE PAPERBACKSWAP.COM SO MUCH. I'm mailing off books that are just collecting dust on my shelf, and getting GEORGE MACDONALD in return! I got my first book last night, and I have another already winging it's way to me. My fangirly heart is very pleased by this.

PPS: Tesla is laying on my left arm, from elbow to wrist. I think she's trying to tell me something.

THIS IS THE CUTEST SONG EVER WRITTEN IN THE HISTORY OF EVER:

JUST SAYIN'.

(The Pushing Daisies video just makes it even more adorable)

Things accomplished today:
Kitchen cleaned
Catbox scooped
Trash taken out
Appetizers chosen for Christmas
Grocery Run #1 accomplished (Run #2 will be on Wednesday for things that will get bad)
Tape acquired
Presents wrapped (except the two I need to buy still)
Younger Cat freaked out by turntable/lazy susan.

All in all, a very good day off. Man, I needed it. I always forget how tiring this season is at work. Thank goodness this will be a short week.
