A HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION.

So, imagine you are driving along, minding your own business, when all of a sudden there's this guy on your tail. You know the type, the kind the drives like he owns the road and all that. He tailgates, then he weaves through traffic to get around you, and finishes by cutting you off before zooming off into the distance at a ridiculous speed. He is a grade-A jerk.

A few minutes later, you pass him, on the side of the road, vehicle wrapped around a pole. Because this is a hypothetical situation, you know that no one was injured or killed, and no other vehicles were involved, but he has pretty much royally screwed himself over by totalling his vehicle in a spectacularly stupid and clearly "his fault" manner.

So, what is your reaction to this? Do you laugh at him for his idiocy? Or do you pity him for having totalled his car? Do you think he deserved it for driving so recklessly and endangering others, or not?
