So it turns out that I utterly FAIL at making gnocchi. It is not, in fact, meant to be thick and chewy, but "cloud-like" in texture.
Maybe, just maybe, I shouldn't have jumped in and tried this with 5 pounds of potatoes.
So yeah, I have a ton of the dough left in my fridge. I'll probably make more tomorrow and then pitch the rest, because it's not really bad, just kinda too heavy. I kneaded it too long and that is apparently a Bad Thing. But then again, everything else I made this weekend was DELICIOUS, so I guess I was due for a failure. cooking people, gnocchi is tricky anyways, so it's not just me. Eventually I will get it right! And until then, I will make small batches.
Man, I made such a mess. I was covered in flour, as was my kitchen and my floor. I think I still have flour stuck to the bottom of my feet. Also, I am very tired, because kneading that much dough for such a long time is tiring!
IN OTHER NEWS, I went to this new church again tonight and I really liked it again and I am thinking I will continue to like this place! The things they say, they make sense! And they are not just full of fluff, or hellfire & brimstone, or requests for money! I LIKE THIS.
