Okay, so apparently the internet (and by internet I mean LJ) has exploded and people are dead because of suspended accounts.

I just poked through some of the comments in the two news posts about the suspensions, and holy crap, people are so friggin' angry!

I mean, yeah. LJ handled this badly. Very badly. I guess they just did a blanket suspension on anyone with the words "rape" or "incest" in their interests? And then realized that maybe non-rapists and non-pedophiles might use those words as interests in the "rape survivor" sense? And then they set about trying to fix it. This is what I am gathering.

I can totally see how this happened. Before today, I would have never expected a rape survivor to use the word "rape" in their interests. I would have expected something like "rape survivor". Also, from the sound of it, they were rushed AND short-handed. I dunno about youse guys, but I know I've made some bad decisions when rushed! To err is human and all that.

So once again the internet (and again by internet I mean LJ) is making a mountain of drama out of something that should not be such a horrible tragedy. I mean, the people in charge came out and said publicly "HEY WE'RE SORRY, WE'RE FIXING IT NOW" and people are STILL going "OMG I H8 U, U KILLED MY DOG" and that's just silly. They are trying to fix their mistake! They apologized TWICE and are doing what they can! Move on.

ANYWAYS. You guys have a brownie, I'm going to go knit.
