Right, so you know how sometimes, you know you know a word, but you can't remember it?

The other day, I was sitting around, minding my own business, when all of a sudden a definition ran though my mind. "Over wall watching" is the OED definition of this word, adn I knew this because I actually made a trip to the Ft Worth Central Library to look it up in their copy of the OED. I did this because it was extra credit on a quiz, and the teacher made me very curious as to the definition of the word.

I remembered all of this in a flash, but then I realized something terrible: I couldn't remember the actual word!

I did a quick goodle search for "over wall watching" to no avail, and removing the quotes brought up six million irrelevant results. I was sad. I plagued me for the rest of the day, but I just could *not* remember.

Then, today, in another quick flash, it hit me! Teichoscopy!

I can't even describe how awesome I felt for remembering that word.

The only reason I knew it was because it was an extra credit assignment, and I remembered it because it's a very obscure word. Most dictionaries don't even include it, except the OED which apparently includes *everything*.

It's a fun word, most dictionaries don't even know it, except for ones like the OED. I like knowing words that most dictionaries don't. The only thing is, it's really hard to drop such words in everyday conversation.
