So.
John Locke = biggest sucker ever.
Why doesn't he just put a sign on his head that says "MAKE ME YOUR PAWN TODAY!!"?
So. Five years before his own birth, he met Charles Widmore and tells him Things. Charles Widmore kicked off the Island by Ben (or so he says), grows up, gets rich, hires Abaddon to make sure Locke goes to the Island. Meanwhile, John Locke as a child is tested by Richard and turns our he's totally Not Special At All. In fact, he spends his life proving that he is a Class A Sucker. So Abaddon suckers him into going on the Walkabout, and bam, John's on the Island, where he is played and played again.
The war that's coming up? Is between Widmore and Ben. They both want to be The Boss of the Others, and John is a pawn in their game, and they are both playing him, and the sucker goes for it very time. He's nobody special, he just is a sucker.
ALSO: WHAT WAS BEN DOING THAT GOT HIM BEAT UP? If he hurt Penny, I'm going to be very angry. I expected to find out what he was doing when he ran off to "fulfill a promise" last week, but no. If he killed Penny like he promised Widmore, I will personally fly to the Island and kick his scrawny little butt. Because NO. You will NOT do that to Desmond and little Charlie. Desmond + Penny = OTP 4EVA.

i think both sides are bad. i think Locke and our Losties are the only good ones. who knows though. maybe they'll turn bad after some time on the island.
and yeah. if something happened to Penneh there will be hell to pay for Linus. death death!!
