jesso: (Sims!)
So if y'all don't hear from me for a few days, it's because I got The Sims 3 yesterday and... yeah. It's pretty excellent. I would tell you all about the shiny new interface and how cool the mood stuff is now and how much fun it is to zoom between Sims in town and in their house and how handy it is to just send a Sim to the store while making the other one shower or something and all of that... but half of you probably don't care, half of you have already played it and thus know, and half of you will just be jealous because you WANT to play it but haven't yet. So I'll spare you.

It's crazy fun though.

Oh and this- I'm kind of surprised by how much I like it. For a long time, I wasn't even sure if I would ever get it, and then when I did decide to get it, I wasn't really expecting huge amounts of goodness. I guess I expected it to be a pain to have to deal with the town so much, and I thought that taking the focus off juggling needs would defeat the purpose of the game. But, thankfully, I was wrong, and it's totally awesome to deal with the town, and easing up the needs makes it more fun to play the Sims' lives. So hooray for that! Now to wait for the inevitable expansion packs so I can have seasons again.

i dont quite understand the Sims. i dont know what the point is. is it like the people are virtual pets in a way?
i was thinking of trying it out but it's kind of expensive so i bought it for my iphone for $10. of course i haven't touched the icon yet. i'm partly afraid i'll be bored and partly afraid i'll be obsessed.
last year i was all about Spore, played it for a week and then totally abandoned the game. i just don't think i'm made for video/computer games.

I'm not really about video games either, but I LOVE The Sims. I think it's the game for non-gamers.

The original Sims was kind of "virtual pet" ish, but Sims 2 lessened that and Sims 3 and made it more about playing their life than remembering to feed them. It's kind of herd to describe the point of it- you create a person and give them a personality and set them up in a house, and you basically can take it from there however you want.

yeah.. i just opened the game and made a sim. just going through the tutorial i feel overwhelmed with responsibility. i should probably delete the game before it dies.

Your Sim shouldn't die off that easily. Unless the app version is dramatically different from the PC version, it only runs their life while you're playing. It's not real-time or anything.

Am I the only one who noticed that you typed "The Tims 3"? :P
