So last night I spent... a long time browsing livejournal for recipes and the like. See, I've been bored with my current recipe repertoire and couldn't think of anything interesting to make. So I found a whole slew of recipes on
cooking, and then I found some lady who had scanned in and uploaded her mom's entire recipe collection, and wow.
So I did some cooking today.
When I woke up, I was really hungry, so I made oven pancakes! They are just like pancakes, only you bake them. And they aren't round. They look like this:

And then you cut them up into square-ish sections and put them in a bowl with powdered sugar and lemon juice and they look like this:

And they are amazing.
Oh, by the way, I have mixing bowls now! Look:

They have lids and everything! It's really awesome. I used to have to use a large saucepan to mix things in. Also I have a hand mixer now, so you can have yours back, Jess.
Then, I made twice-baked potatoes, and it was cool. Never done that before. Then I made mincemeat pie, only I found out that mincemeat apparently usually has no meat in it, and that just won't do, so I replaced the mincemeat with sausage and it was good. Turned out a bit sweet, but I think that if I add tomatoes it would be perfect. VIS:

Mmmm. Meat, apple, and pie crust.
Then I made my own chips:

Corn tortillas, cut into sixths (if you stack them and have a sharp knife, it's neat and even and awesome), spread on a baking sheet, brushed with oil, and baked. A lot of work and doesn't really save any money or anything, but it was fun and tasty and you could probably play with seasonings to make them totally awesome.
Also I made some blue cheese dip to go with the chips, but I didn't bother with a picture since it'd just be white stuff with white lumps, not really that interesting.
So yeah. I LIKE COOKING. Tomorrow I am going to try to make gnocchi. It will be an adventure!
